Get your popcorn ready for a season of epic movie marathons, as Netflix has announced dates for 42 new original movies slated for the rest of the year

With just over four months of 2021 to go, Netflix has unveiled its full lineup of original movies making its way to screens this fall. The streaming giant will release a whopping 42 movies throughout the rest of the year, with new films added to its library every week to delight its fans, and the line-up is star-studded.

Some standouts include Adam McKay’s dark comedy Don’t Look Up, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio; Red Notice, an action thriller starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds; as well as the crime horror movie Army of Thieves, the prequel to Army of the Dead.

Also on Netflix’s calendar is a selection of new holiday titles, including the third instalment of their beloved Christmas original The Princess Switch, A Castle For Christmas, and Love Hard which will arrive sometime in November and December, just in time for the holidays.

Don't Look Up (December 24)

Written and directed by Adam McKay, Don’t Look Up tells the story of two low-level astronomers (Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence) who must go on a giant global media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth. 

Red Notice (November 12)

Featuring the star-studded trio of Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, Red Notice follows a top FBI profiler (Johnson) as he enlists a con artist (Reynolds) to track down the world's most wanted art thief (Gadot). 

The Harder They Fall (November 3)

The film boasts an impressive cast of Black actors including Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield. It has a classic Western plot revolving around a young man (Majors) who wants to get revenge on the man who killed his parents.

tick, tick…BOOM! (November 19)

In Lin-Manuel Miranda’s adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical pre-Rent musical of the same name, the film tells the story of a promising young composer who navigates love, friendship, and the pressures of life as an artist in New York City. 

The Power Of The Dog (December 1)

Written & directed by Jane Campion, The Power Of The Dog is the story of Phil Burbank (Benedict Cumberbatch), a charismatic rancher who inspires fear and awe in those around him. When his brother brings home a new wife and her son, Phil torments them until he finds himself exposed to the possibility of love.
