There are plenty of new experiences to be excited about during the $1.7 billion shopping mall's opening this week
Everyone is flocking to the much anticipated Jewel Changi Airport this week as it opens its doors to the first members of public. And so are we; our intimate Tatler Fashion Awards celebrations will be held at the complex as well.
So what is there to see at this ten-storey megamall? Lots.
From Singapore's first Shake Shack and the return of A&W after 15 years to the first Pokémon Center outside of Japan—which will offer merchandise exclusive to Singapore—there is just so much to explore in this complex that holds over 280 shops.
And what else is new? Here are seven brands with concept stores or merchandise that are exclusive to Jewel Changi Airport.
The 1,000 square-metre store, dubbed Nike's "Beacon Store", will be the largest Nike outlet in South-east Asia, offering a full suite of sports and lifestyle merchandise that sports enthusiasts and athleisure fans love. There's also a lab that offers T-shirt printing and shoe customisation services to make them truly yours.
Operated by SUTL-Corporation, chairman Arthur Tay said that it is “backed by a vision to be the most fun Nike store in Singapore... setting the benchmark in operational excellence and customer experience for all SUTL-operated Nike stores.”
Tiger Street Lab, #05-205
The homegrown brewery's concept store will not only be the first in Singapore, but also in the world. The outlet will offer a seasonal range of beers and exclusive merchandise—such as the Tiger Orchid-infused Black Lager, inspired by Singapore's national flower—on top of Tiger's well-loved range of beers. For the latter, we spotted some gorgeous streetwear designed by Amos Ananda Yeo and Mina Kwon.
An F&B concept also offers a menu of Singapore's street food in collaboration with local hawkers. Profits from the beer go towards the Tiger Street Food Support Fund, which aims to promote and support our vibrant hawker culture. Keng Eng Kee Seafood kickstarts this concept with a six-month partnership, offering signature bites to pair with a pint or two.
Want a souvenir? Nothing oozes with local flavour like a Jewel-edition Tiger Beer printed with your name on the bottle.
Make Hero, #B1-281
A joint venture between Japan's Make Up Inc. and Hirosophy, this affordable luxury beauty retailer will open its first flagship store in the world at Jewel Changi Airport, offering a range of innovative Japanese skincare, beauty, and health products. These include medical-grade cosmetic brand Hirosophy, popular body care brand Parfait Amour Savon Savon, and salon-exclusive skincare label Natura.
The retailer's best-sellers are Hirosophy's caviar mask which counts Chinese celebrities Gong Li, Zhang Jiani and Bai Bing amongst its fans, and Natura's Saqha skincare line, which utilises adipose-derived stem cells and neural stem cells to repair and rejuvenate skin.
Naiise Iconic, #02-205
A brand-new concept by local design retailer Naiise, the 882.5 square-metre space will be the only local store to occupy a duplex unit in Jewel Changi Airport, featuring over 600 local and international brands and up to 50 brands exclusive to the shop including Re:erth, The Mindful Company, The Shirt Bar, and more. Visitors looking to kill time can sample from more than 30 brands of freshly brewed tea at the Naiise x Teapasar tea bar, and young families can indulge in some fun at the kids zone, which even has a slide for the children.
Naiise Iconic will also boast the retailer's first gift wrapping bar where customers can customise products and personalise their gifts with a wide selection of gift wraps and accessories.
Asia's first ever Yotelair offers 130 Premium, Accessible and Family cabins for short layovers or overnight stays. Inspired by luxury air travel, these cabins equipped with Serta Smart Beds, smart TVs, multiple power and USB points, and easy connectivity. There are even a 24-hour gym and co-working space for your convenience. The cabins are bookable in four-hour blocks and utilise a self-check-in and check-out system.
Local gallery store Supermama, which is best known for its quirky porcelainware will open its second store in Singapore at Jewel Changi Airport. Already a favoured concept store amongst art and design lovers for unique souvenirs from Singapore, the new outlet will carry a gold version of their signature One Singapore 2019 Edition plate, exclusive to Jewel Changi Airport.
Seed Heritage, #B1-286
Australian fashion retailer Seed Heritage is finally opening its first standalone women's store in Singapore. Unlike its four local stores which cater mainly to childrenswear and a small woman's range, this flagship store will carry the brand's full womenswear collection of classic wardrobe staples that will "take you from desk-to-dinner". Seed Heritage will also be adding to its childrenswear outlets with a fifth store on the fourth floor of Jewel Changi Airport.
Starbucks' duplex flagship store at Jewel Changi Airport will be the biggest in Singapore and the only one with an art room to host coffee seminars and other coffee-related events. Coffee lovers can explore and discover different brews and beans at the Reserve Experience Bar, helmed by Starbucks coffee masters, many whom are champions in national coffee competitions. If you enjoy the creaminess of a nitro brew, Starbucks Jewel is only the second in Asia to boast a four-tap Nitro, offering a menu of cold brew coffee and tea beverages like the Nitro Flat White or Nitro Green Tea Latte.
The outlet also takes the opportunity to add a local touch to the menu, with Jewel-exclusive dishes like Hainanese Chicken Rice Quinoa Salad, Satay Chicken Ciabatta and Milo Tiramisu, or Affogato with Udders ice cream that are freshly prepared. There are also unique merchandise from coffee brewing accessories to lifestyle items, only available at the flagship store.
Don't miss a picture with the Starbucks Siren, which extends over two levels of the store. The beautiful mural is a special-commissioned piece, painstakingly hand-chiseled by designer and artist Sean Dunston over two months—definitely Instagram material.
