Cheongsam heritage exhibition

The history of cheongsam in Hong Kong can be traced back to the 1960s, when the traditional Chinese dress was a fashion staple, especially among upper-class women.

To enliven the craftsmanship of the rich and vibrant artistic tradition,  K11 Musea has collaborated with local cheongsam tailor Yin Kou Zhang, who specialises in a classic Shanghainese tailoring technique, to demonstrate the art of hand sewing a cheongsam, followed by a hauniu (flower buttons) workshop.

To transport you back to “In the Mood for Love”, Wong Kar Wai’s famed movie that celebrates cheongsam, the “Experience Chamber” of K11 Musea will be transformed into a cheongsam exhibition, showcasing iconic designs by Master Yan Ka Man including Miss Hong Kong Pageants dresses, as well as popular styles worn by celebrities in the 1960s.

When: From January 8 to February 29, 2020 (demonstrations at 2pm and workshops at 3:30pm on January 11 and 18, February 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29)
Where: Experience Chamber, first floor of K11 MUSEA
