K-Drama 'It’s Okay to Not Be Okay' and Reality Show ‘I-Land’ Nominated for International Emmy Awards 2021

Hit Korean drama It’s Okay to Not Be Okay secured a nomination in the category of the best TV Movie/Mini-series, while music reality show I-Land is a contender for Best Non-Scripted Entertainment at the 2021 International Emmy Awards

It’s no secret that Korean culture has swept across the globe over the last decade. From K-pop to TV dramas and variety shows, a slew of Korean entertainment products has seen a continuous surge in popularity, garnering a huge fanbase in Asia as well as in the West. And some of the prominent examples are Netflix K-drama It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and Mnet’s music reality show I-Land, which have received major nominations at the 2021 International Emmy Awards.

On September 23, a total of 44 nominees across 11 categories from 24 countries were announced by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, which stars Kim Soo-hyun, Seo Ye-ji, and Oh Jung-se, earned the nomination in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category alongside other shows, including Atlantic Crossing (Norway), Des (United Kingdom) and Todas As Mulheres do Mundo (All the women of the world) (Brazil).

While I-Land, the Mnet reality show that brought in K-pop boy band Enhypen, picked up a nomination in the 'Non-Scripted Entertainment' category. Other contenders include Da’s Liefde! [That’s Love!] (Belgium), Who is the mask? [The Masked Singer] – Season 2 (Mexico) and  The Masked Singer (United Kingdom).

“We are so proud of our Nominees and the record-breaking number of countries,” said International Academy President & CEO Bruce Paisner. “To those who feared the pandemic would slow TV production around the world, this is your answer.”

The winners will be announced at an in-person ceremony in New York City November 22. Congratulations to the lead actors and show producers of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and I-Land!
