From the birthday cake flavour to her dress details, here's everything you need to know about the young royal's birthday party at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, celebrated her first birthday amid Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor last weekend.

The happy occasion was marked with a casual backyard picnic that was attended by close friends and family, according to a spokesperson for the Sussexes.

At the party, photographer Misan Harriman, a friend of the Sussexes, snapped an adorable portrait of the Queen's youngest great-granddaughter. The image was released on Instagram by Harriman and is one of the first glimpses the world has had of the young royal.

“It was such a privilege to celebrate the first birthday of Lilibet with my family and hers. Joy and face painting all around,” wrote the photographer on Twitter.

Details of the birthday party and the lead-up to the big day have now been released. Below, we give you an inside look.

For starters, Lilibet showed up to her party in a gorgeous baby blue dress by Isabel Garretón, an ethically manufactured label that aims to provide jobs for underprivileged women. The piece, called the Baby Girl’s Bishop Pique Dress, can be purchased as a three-piece set with a matching bonnet and diaper cover. The look by the young royal was completed with a floral white headband.

Another notable element of Lilibet’s birthday picnic was a cake by baker Claire Ptak. Ptak made Harry and Markle’s wedding cake in 2018 and she recently took to Instagram to share details about the royal’s birthday cake.

"It was an absolute pleasure to make this special cake last week for Lilibet’s birthday. Wishing her a very happy year ahead," Ptak wrote.

She then shared some close-up photos of Lilibet’s cake, which is an Amalfi lemon and elderflower cake (that was also used for Harry and Markle’s wedding cake). She then used a strawberry buttercream to cover the exterior of the cake as well as pink flowers and an orange banner that read "Lilibet".

While the Queen and other members of the royal family were unable to make it to the party due to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, guests such as Zara and Mike Tindall as well as their children were reportedly present.

Peter Philips and Autumn Kelly along with their children, Savannah and Isla, were also present at the Windsor Estate. Charlie Van Straubenzee, an old friend of Harry’s and the godfather to Lilibet’s older brother, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was also in attendance.

The party itself was picnic-style with fun snacks, balloons, party games and face painting. It was reportedly very casual with Harry and Markle encouraging guests to drop by the house throughout the day.

It was also reported that over US$$100,000 worth of donations had been made in Lilibet’s honour globally to World Central Kitchen, an organisation that provides meals for those affected by humanitarian, climate and community crises.
