The Japanese homeware brand wants to help you find inner peace during the pandemic.

Between the abundance of lotions and potions, cedarwood and cypress-scented diffusers, facemasks and exfoliating bath products, nothing beats the soothing experience of walking into a MUJI store—except for perhaps an actual day spa.

While most MUJI stores across the globe are currently closed in response to the pandemic, the Japanese company is working from a different angle in an attempt to provide a similarly zen experience by way of online meditation and calligraphy classes.

On May 1, MUJI kicked off its series of zen-evoking classes with New York yoga studio Sky Ting on the MUJI Instagram. The instructors led a meditation class that focused on teaching simple techniques that viewers could easily implement into their own meditation practices at home while incorporating light stretches and movement.

The homeware brand is set to continue its inner peace-focused series over the month of May. On Friday, May 8, May 15, and May 22, viewers will be able to attend a virtual calligraphy workshop with New York calligraphist Sam Teich. According to a report from Apartment Therapy, the first class will focus on creating handmade Mother’s Day cards from the comfort of home.

Shinah Chang of Crooked Calligraphy will also teach a special 30-minute all-levels class on Tuesday, May 19. The calligraphist will teach viewers how to make unique designs using everyday pens they have around the house. Chang also offers her own calligraphy workshops and resources.

MUJI has also released a series of free adult coloring pages, which feature a charming array of well-loved MUJI products juxtaposed against fruits, veggies, Japanese Daruma Dolls, and Maneki-neko cats.

The brand hopes that through these small moments of zen it can help viewers feel inspired and uplifted while navigating working from home and social distancing.
