Singapore Heritage Festival 2020: Digital Edition (Pasir Ris)
What The second weekend of the Singapore Heritage Festival spotlights the neighbourhood of Pasir Ris, once known as home to a holiday resort town and filled with stories of its coastal heritage. Digital festival goers can look forward to taking a virtual stroll through the mangroves in the area, as well as a livestream Sambal Food Art workshop where there will be a sambal making demonstration followed by a basic sketching session of chillies and a recipe poster using watercolour paints.

The City of Good Show
What In an effort to raise funds for 15 charities that champion the disability cause, the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPCC) has partnered Dream Academy to host a total of seven livestream variety shows, with stand-up comedian Rishi Budhrani as the guest star of the week. Scheduled every Wednesday, the second episode will see proceeds go to beneficiaries such as the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, Singapore Association for Mental Health, as well as the Singapore Association for the Deaf among many others.

Extended exhibition of Twofold by Genevieve Chua
What Now that cultural institutions have reopened in light of Phase two, the STPI Gallery now welcomes gallery-goers to visit an extended showcase of Twofold, a solo exhibition by Genevieve Chua curated by Melanie Pocock from Birmingham-based gallery, Ikon Gallery.
Featuring a series of print-based works from her residency from November 2019 and paintings from two ongoing series, the exhibition is an exploration of painting as a visual medium, and delves deeper into the element of perception and constituent materials which reveal layers of truth and interpretation over time.

Singapore Heritage Festival 2020: Digital Edition (Tanjong Pagar)
What Lined with more than 80 digital programmes that will reveal the lesser-known stories of Tanjong Pagar, Pasir Ris and Kallang, the 17th edition of the Singapore Heritage Festival will span across three weekends, each spotlighting a different neighbourhood of the city-state.
This week, it kicks off with interesting narratives centred around Tanjong Pagar. From the screening of video documentary, Stories of the Sea, featuring the Indian Muslim community who settled in the Telok Ayer area among other vibrant communities, to a guided soon kueh cooking session, there's something for all (digital) festival goers in the line-up this weekend.

SIFA v2.020: Third Vodcast by Source x Audible Lands
What The final installation of the three-part vodcast series from Source x Audible Lands culminates in a film and music performance. Featuring filmmaker Eric Lee, Singapore-based experimental band The Observatory, as well as music groups from our migrant worker community joined by Billal Hossain, a migrant worker whose music has been featured in acclaimed film, A Land Imagined. Audiences will experience a range of folk, pop and devotional music, each influenced by South and Southeast Asian traditions.

Children's festival by National Gallery Singapore
What Young ones can now embark on their own creative adventures in the second edition of the National Gallery Singapore's biennial children's festival, Small Big Dreamers, by following a series of interactive and easy-to-follow activities designed to unleash their creativity and encourage artistic creation as they stay home.
Lined with animation and exercises inspired by works of five local and Southeast Asia artists, including the likes of Georgette Chen, Choy Weng Yang, Sudjana Kerton and Ruzaika Omar Basaree, watch them navigate through each artist studio and segment online, interspersed with storytelling sessions, fun games and live-streamed performances.

Virtual Conscious Festival
What The business of sustainability is a tricky one to navigate, and surely we can all do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and consume consciously in today's consumer-driven world. Back for its sixth edition, The Conscious Festival has taken its operations online for a purposeful three-day extravaganza filled with panels, talks and workshops on ways to solve the world's climate emergency.
Participants can look forward to hearing from Brune Poirson, French Secretary of State attached to the Minister of Ecological and Inclusive Transition, as well as Zoe Knight, managing director and group head of the HSBC Centre of Sustainable Finance, among many other industry experts.

Jazz concerts with Harry's
What Singapore's popular watering hole, Harry's, will be hosting a two-part virtual jazz concert, each for the duration of two-nights only. The first installation will feature jazz veteran Alemay Fernandez accompanied by keyboardist Chok Kerong, presenting songs from the swinging sixties: think classics from icons such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.
The second weekend and final installation will also feature the vocals of Fernandez, but accompanied by guitarist Anson Fung to bring audiences bossa nova numbers from Antônio Carlos Jobim, Etta James and Nancy Wilson. American jazz vocalist Richard Jackson—who is a familiar face in the local jazz scene as well—will also be making an appearance on both occasions.

#LockdownArtist Charity Auction by Perrier
What Teaming up with some of Singapore's favourite chefs and bartenders to produce a series of visual artworks, Perrier, the French natural sparkling mineral water brand, has scheduled a live auction aiming to raise $10,000 from the pieces for Singapore's first food bank.
Works have been completed by nine contributing artists: Janice Wong, chef-owner of 2am:dessertbar, Jorge Conde, head bartender of Smoke & Mirrors, Juan Yijun and Jessica Hutchinson, co-owners from No Sleep Club, Naz Arjuna, head bartender of Bitters & Love, Petrina Loh, chef-owner of Morsels, Phoebe Oviedo, sous chef of Open Farm Community, Oliver Truesdale-Jutras, head chef of Open Farm Community, and Rishi Naleendra, chef-owner of Cloudstreet, Cheek Bistro and Kotuwa.

Applications for the sixth Young Designer Award by Design Intervention
With its sights set on identifying and nurturing the next wave of residential designers, Singapore-based practice Design Intervention has rolled out its sixth edition of the Young Designer Award—an annual competition targeted at students from local institutions. "We believe that residential design can be the most rewarding and satisfying career choice for an aspiring designer, and the Young Designers Award is our attempt to promote excellence in our industry and share our passion with the designers of tomorrow," says Nikki Hunt and Andrea Savage, co-CEOs of the practice.
The competition is accepting entries until September 8.
