While travel is on hold again due to the pandemic, this Korean megastar shares a fun afternoon with his fans virtually through Smart Hallyu Hangouts
We’ve been waiting for our beloved Captain Ri (Hyun Bin) to “crash-land” in the Philippines since last year. However, due to obvious reasons brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, it might take a while before we finally see him up close and personal. Good thing there is Smart Hallyu Hangouts, a series of online shows where subscribers can watch their favourite South Korean stars through a live feed that can accessed anywhere in the world.
In the second episode of Smart Hallyu Hangouts, Hyun Bin recounts his most memorable experience shooting the commercial for Smart together with his real-life partner, Son Ye-jin. “The Smart commercial was full of visual effects. Everything that surrounded me was computer graphics, so I had to act in an empty space,” he says. “It was exciting to imagine what the result would be like, but at the same time, not knowing if I’m doing all right or even what I was doing made me feel a little awkward. But it was exciting as well."
The event gave a once-in-a-lifetime chance to select lucky fans to have a one-on-one talk with Hyun Bin via an online call. Games and prizes were also abound. “I’m always grateful to my fans. All I can do for them to repay their love is to continue acting, hoping it would make their life a little better. Although it was for a short time, I got to talk with my fans and talk about my works for a short while. It was nice to communicate with my fans, even though I could only see them through a screen,” the actor says.
Excited to explore the Philippines, Hyun Bin says, “I think touring the Philippines would be a great experience,” promising to visit his fans in the Philippines as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
