Gomez had her first official acting job on the children's show Barney & Friends at the age of seven. She also got few smaller roles until the age of 12 when she started working for the Disney Channel. She appeared in the Suite Life of Zack And Cody, Hannah Montana, and Wizards of Waverly Place in the network.

Gomez used to be the lead singer of 'Selena Gomez and The Scene'. The band's first two albums went gold, selling more than 500,000 copies. In 2010, they won Breakout Artist of the Year on the Teen Choice Awards. 

4. UNICEF's First Youngest Ambassador

In 2009, Gomez joined the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) when she was just 17. For her first mission, she travelled to the African nation of Ghana. "I got to meet teens, I got to meet children, I got to meet families," Gomez said in an interview. "It was completely life-changing and eye-opening, and when we came back we definitely had nothing to complain about."

5. First Person To Hit 100M Instagram Followers

Gomez's Instagram account became the first to hit the 100-million follower mark in 2016. At the time, the singer surpassed fellow celebrity Instagramers Taylor Swift (91.4 million), Beyonce (85.3 million), Ariana Grande (85 million) and Kim Kardashian (83.6 million).
