The American e-book and audiobook subscription service is waiving its credit card requirement for 30 days, as announced by its founder and CEO Trip Adler.

"At Scribd, we believe reading is the most powerful tool we have for connecting and sharing the human experience," Adler posted on his social media accounts. "With millions of people around the globe staying close to home to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, access to books and information is more important than ever before."

Expiring on April 17, new first-time subscribers of Scribd will be waived of the credit card requirement upon registering. Only one promo code may be redeemed per household/per user account. The promo code is not transferable and is not redeemable for cash. However, returning subscribers are asked to sign up for a paid account.

"We encourage you to take care of yourself and each other, and we hope reading can offer you solace during these difficult times," Adler said.
