Fancy a romance book to keep you warm and fuzzy in this weather?

It's always a good time to read romance books. It teaches us about life, the value of relationships, and characters that we may or may not recognise in real life. There's nothing more lovely than learning about the many faces and forms of love.

Apart from all the Nora Roberts and Nicholas Sparks novels, here are some interesting reads that are sure to make your heart flutter:

Written by Filipino-American Tif Marcelo, Once Upon a Sunset tells the story of the likeable protagonist named Diana Gallagher-Cary, an on-call OB-GYN. Although this book is a chick-lit, the plot goes in-depth into the mother and daughter dynamics more than romance. Nevertheless, the author is able to keep the reader's interest with her laudable eloquence.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Is it possible to find a spouse based on research? Genetics professor, Don Tillman, believes so. The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion follows Don's mission to find a wife based on evidence he finds. The book's premise is as promising as its protagonist. Despite Don's directness, he's quite a likeable character. However, there's quite a debate about this book's success. Some might disagree as it presents autism as mere entertainment. It's the same dilemma that has turned people away from the representation of scientists and "nerds" in the hit show The Big Bang Theory, as it only enforces stereotypes.

Ravished by Amanda Quick

If you loved Bridgerton, then you'll enjoy Amanda Quick's Ravished. Inspired by the world-renowned fairy tale, Amanda Quick's Ravished tells the classic story of Beauty and the Beast—only with a more mature plot. The book is a fun regency romance about Miss Harriet Pomeroy and Viscount St. Justin, Gideon Westbrook. Given the premise, this novel is quite engaging regardless of knowing the inevitable happy ending. Give fairy tale romance a try once more with this novel!

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett is a young adult romance that tells the story between Bailey Rydell and Porter Roth—enemies in real life, friends online. This is a charming modern take on internet romance between two young adults who are just beginning to learn about the ropes of life and relationships. Sure, you'd find yourself wanting to push Bailey to reveal her online persona to Porter, but does anyone ever? In real life, people are more complex, which makes it so easy for us to keep both our online and offline persona separate. It is this mystery and anticipation that keeps the story afloat.

This book deserves an honourable mention in the romance category for its distinct plot and characters that were ahead of its time. Fall in love once more with ideal man, Mr Darcy, in one of Jane Austen’s famous novels, Pride and Prejudice. Not only is Austen's writing beautiful, but so is the message that the novel presents and the ever-so-charming heroine. Smart and courageous, Elizabeth is a woman that we all wish to be. No wonder why Mr Darcy fell head over heels for Elizabeth.
