Here's a piece of good news as we enter MCO 2.0—Netflix just released a teaser trailer promising a slew of exciting new releases to help make this lockdown more bearable

With 70 original movies on its slate, Netflix subscribers can look forward to at least one new movie every week on the streaming channel throughout the year. Fuelling the excitement are the names attached to them. Think Hollywood heavyweights like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Hemsworth, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Melissa McCarthy, Halle Berry, and the list goes on.

There are plenty of dramas and comedies, as well as musicals and animated features. There is also a superhero flick called Thunder Force starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer. Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry will unveil her directorial debut, Bruised, in which she also stars as an MMA fighter. And the popular teen rom-coms Kissing Booth and To All The Boys will premiere their second sequel.

There is a lot to digest but here are five movies that stand out immediately:

Red Notice

The three leads, Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, were chosen to introduce Netflix 2021 trailer (above) because they are starring in one of the most anticipated releases, Red Notice. Promising to be an action-packed thriller, it follows an FBI profiler (Johnson) and two rival criminals (played by Reynolds and Gadot).

Army of the Dead

Directed by Zack Snyder, it's a new take on the zombie flick, this time focusing on a daring heist in a quarantine zone by a group of mercenaries. It stars Dave Bautista, Tig Notaro, and Ella Purnell.

Malcolm & Marie

Starring John David Washington and Zendaya, Malcolm & Marie is described as a romantic drama that pays tribute to great Hollywood romances. The plot involves a filmmaker whose relationship with his girlfriend is tested after the success of his film. The movie premieres on February 5.

Don't Look Up

Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothee Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett, it's the story of two astronomers on a media tour to warn mankind about an approaching comet that will destroy Earth.
