Whenever an opportunity arises to appreciate the art and culture of a foreign country, art aficionados from all around Singapore will gather and soak in what they can. Last month, Artchetypal held a special art exhibition titled Myanmar Heritage, at the ION Art Gallery in ION Orchard to showcase pieces by established and emerging artists from Myanmar. The exhibition showcased more than 70 paintings of seven extraordinary and passionate artists—Moe Myint Zaw, Kyi Hlaing Aung, Ngwe Aung, Ngwe Phyoe, Lapyae, Chan Nyein Kyaw (better known as CNK) and Min Zayar Oo—who all hail from Myanmar. Each of the pieces on display offered various perspectives of the country's vibrant culture and heritage. Two new artists were highlighted during the event: Min Zayar Oo, who specialises in realism art and CNK, who is known for his whimsical dreamscapes. Artchetypal collaborated with Taw Win Art Gallery from Myanmar to co-sponsor the exhibition, with the aim of bringing a glimpse of Myanmar's art scene to Singapore.
