Simply called ‘The LKY Musical’, the play will showcase the tumultuous times of pre-independence Singapore with Lee Kuan Yew forming the crux of the story.

Singapore as well as the world mourned the loss of a great leader with the passing of Lee Kuan Yew last 23 March 2015.

As Changi Airport contemplates changing its name to Lee Kuan Yew International Airport to pay homage to the father of modern Singapore, an original musical written, composed and choreographed by Metropolitan Productions to share the life story of the leader will be held at Marina Bay Sands.

Simply called ‘The LKY Musical’, the play will showcase the tumultuous times of pre-independence Singapore. Central to the play will, of course, be the figure of Lee Kuan Yew whose life, political battles and enduring relationships with his wife form the crux of the story.

This exciting project is brought together by an international team of artists, with music by Singapore’s iconic musician and composer Dick Lee, lyrics by Laurence Olivier Award winner Stephen Clark, book by Tony Petito and a story devised by internationally renowned Singaporean author Miranda Chand

Directed by veteran London director Steven Dexter, it offers new insights into the emotional struggle faced by Lee Kuan Yew and his comrades at a time when Singapore’s history balanced on a knife-edge.

Explore, learn and relive the tale of Lee Kuan Yew and Singapore’s rise to fame with this musical happening 21 July – 2 August 2015.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the official website here.
