In addition to the upcoming launch of the story-telling platform, a limited-edition capsule collection of lifestyle foods curated by Wong will be available for sale online and offline every June

Kayla Wong, founder of the ethical brand, Basics for Basics has a new venture: Casa of Love. This new story-telling platform is curated by Wong and stands to share the idea of inclusivity and diversity by celebrating love in all its forms. Launching on June 10, it will support Hong Kong's local community through creative expression through the belief that love is the universal language that brings people together.

Tying together with Pride Month, with this project, Wong hopes to shine more light on the community and share uplifting messages of love is love as Hong Kong's LGBTQ+ landscape is far from ideal. For its inaugural year, the theme explores the question of what love is as love is the force that bounds people together and thus, all have a different interpretation of it. All the items for this special project are made with the thought of what love feels like, smells like and can be.

"[Love] is the force that binds us together as a community, whether it be the love for each other or for the love of what we do," says Wong.

On starting Casa of Love, Wong tells Tatler, "I have always wanted to do more for the LGBTQ+ community in Hong Kong but I have realized that the way to go about it is very different from how you would if you were in a western country. The Chinese culture is more modest and less willing to be loud and proud about being gay."

"Casa of Love is my subtle way of highlighting all types of relationships and concepts of love. We all feel love and crave for that bond with someone and it should not be defined by the colour of your skin, your sexuality or gender or even your age," she adds.

In addition to being a story-telling platform, Casa of Love also highlights local artistry and will be showcasing goods made with care by local independent markers and crafters bringing together a community of artists and designers through the love of what they do.
