1. The Bachelor

Probably the most-loved reality TV dating show, The Bachelor and Bachelorette took America and the world by storm. One man or one woman dates 25 plus other singles in order to find true love. The ultimate goal is to get married and find the perfect match...but not too many couples have lasted. The Bachelor is filled with games and group or solo dates where they can determine how compatible they are. Packed with intrigue, the show is never boring. The much-awaited 'rose ceremony' where the featured Bachelor or Bachelorette eliminates those she or he does not want to end up has become iconic. With 25 seasons under its belt - this is definitely a fan favourite.

2. Selling Sunset

Los Angeles is notorious for its cut-throat industries and stunning real estate. However, getting your hands on the home of your dreams is not always that easy. Selling Sunset takes a look at the other side—from the real estate agent’s perspective. They show us how brokers battle over clients and properties while juggling their personal dilemmas too. 3. Love Is Blind

This show takes the saying 'love is blind'—well, literally. Contestants date through pods, wherein they can hear each other, but not see each other. They speed-date and engage in long, deep conversations, truly getting to know one another without knowing about their date's race, height or appearance at all. After several days of 'pod-dating', the male contestants decide which woman he wants to propose to. Yes, that's right, propose! Those who believe that love truly is blind, get engaged without having ever laid eyes on their fiancé. The couple then meets face-to-face, goes on an overseas vacation with the other newly engaged duos, and proceeds to live together before tying the knot. The catch is… you can totally be left at the altar.

4. 90 Day Fiance

90 Day Fiance from TLC is honestly fascinating, dark, and eye-opening all at the same time. Here, the show documents the relationships between men and women who are looking to get married to non-Americans in need of a K-1 visa. We get insight into the lonely lives of American nationals who eagerly seek life partners and vulnerable foreigners desperate to stay in the US. The twist is that since they are seeking to renew their visas, they only have 90 days until they need to get hitched or else they get deported. There have been spin-off shows as well, such as Before The 90 Days, which documents an American who travels abroad in order to meet their soon to be fiance in person for the first time. 

5. Bling Empire

This new reality show has taken the world by storm. Documenting the lives of ultra-wealthy Asians in LA, Bling Empire lets audiences in on all the glam, gossip, and jealousy along with the cultural nuances of real-life crazy rich Asians.

6. Love Island

Love Island, originally from the UK, has made it big in America and Australia too. A group of extremely fit men and women are brought together to live in a fantastic villa all with the same goal - to find real love. All of them spend most of their time in swimwear, share a room, and share beds with one another too. They participate in a variety of goofy, intense and wild games and dates all in order to find their ideal. The contestants date, swap partners and vote each other out of the house until a final two are named as the winners. The host then asks one of them if they were truly in it for love - if they'd rather split the cash prize with their significant other or keep it all for themselves.

7. RuPaul's Drag Race

RuPaul has become a legendary figure. He is the most famous drag queen in the world and a person who has made it his calling to educate fans that loving yourself for exactly who you are is essential. Through this competition, drag queens across America compete to win the crown through a series of intensely difficult challenges involving singing, dancing, acting, sewing and performing. The phenomenal talent, wit, confidence and drama make for a wonderfully entertaining show. Through its many seasons, messages of equality, acceptance, love and kindness have been constant and at the core of the show. It has garnered fans across the spectrum who all love the uplifting message... and all the T,  of course.

8. Catfish

Catfish exposes the world of pretenders. Here MTV exposes the catfish out there in the online dating field aka people who pretend to be other people by absorbing another person’s persona, tricking their significant others into a relationship. The show's hosts help the ‘victims’ who are emotionally involved with someone they have never seen in person before. Catfish is making a comeback with their first-ever virtual season - stay tuned!

9. Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Keeping Up With The Kardashians changed reality TV and made some of today’s most prominent Hollywood names, known around the globe. Here, we follow the lives of Kris and Caitlin Jenner and their children, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall. The show has finally called it quits after 20 seasons.

10. Botched

Botched rose to fame years ago as it revealed the not so perfect side of plastic surgery. It literally takes us through botched procedures and how clients react, cope and resolve their surgeries have left them looking. Top surgeons Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow do their best to reverse the botched jobs in order to give patients the best outcome.

11. Too Hot To Handle

This dating show which originated in the UK is as ridiculous as it is scandalous. The premise is that a group of steamy singles are all trapped on an island where they live together, date and must decide if they can find true love... without getting physical. Sex is off the table. Not even a kiss. Simple enough, right? Well… the show does its best to find contestants who are particularly 'sexually-charged', which makes this challenge extra difficult for them. The catch? Every time they break the rules and engage in some form of sexual activity, the prize money pot gets deducted from.

12. My Strange Addiction

This show is as strange as it is addicting. TLC chronicles people’s weirdest, deepest, darkest obsessions - habits they can’t seem to kick or are totally in love with. Learn about people who are in physical relationships with their car or inflatable balloon animals. They introduce us to people who love to eat Vicks vapour rub, drink blood, eat glass, smell dirty diapers, and even someone who is addicted to licking her cat.

13. Survivor

With 39 seasons Survivor has been a tried and tested hit! Based on a Swedish show, the American take on the program has captured the attention of countless fans who flock to watch survivalists battle it out in games, challenges, and try their hand at winning the grand prize all while being totally deserted in the toughest environments. They have to find potable water, hunt for their own food, make fire, and build shelter for themselves. This gang of castaways works in tribes and eventually vote one another off the island. 

 

14. The Circle

We all know how social media controls our lives these days. The Circle on Netflix is a show based purely on one’s social media persona. Contestants must communicate with each other via their virtual profiles, play games, vote each other off the show, and at the end, the public chooses their favourite player. Throughout the entire process, no-one can meet face-to-face, which means that you can be exactly who you are, or… someone totally new. There is now The Circle USA, Brazil, Paris, and more! 

15. Real Housewives

Be it in Beverly Hills, Atlanta, New York or any of their locations, Bravo's hit show has truly become a favourite for many. The wealthiest women from elite communities open their doors to the public, letting us into their intrigue-filled, lavish, daily lives. 

16. Say Yes To The Dress

Finding the perfect wedding gown is every woman’s dream. To go shopping with family and friends in search of the dress that is meant for you is such a memorable part of the wedding planning process. Here we follow a woman’s wedding dress shopping process as her family and friends vote on each outfit that she tries on at the store Kleinfeld Bridal in Manhattan. Trust us, their taste-level is often quite questionable; viewing the fashion choices makes for an entertaining night. Specialists at the store guide the bride through some horrible decisions and try to help her choose a stunning look. 

17. Naked And Afraid

This Discovery Channel show is wild. Contestants are dropped in the middle of nowhere, in jungles, deserts or deserted islands and are totally naked, left to fend for themselves to survive for a set number of days. The catch aside from being totally nude is that they have no idea who their partner is until they disrobe and find one another on the location site! 

18. Hell’s Kitchen

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay searches for a new head chef of another of his Hell’s Kitchen locations every season. He torments the contestants through ridiculous and difficult challenges which test not only their culinary prowess but mental and physical strength as well. The chefs are as sassy as they are talented - pair that with Ramsay’s notorious temper and we are in for a fun time! 

19. Terrace House

Terrace House is a Japanese reality show that many have called a dating show even though technically it isn’t. Six strangers live together in one house where they get to know each other and yes, some eventually date. What makes the show interesting is that they can go about their normal lives. Meaning, they can go to work, visit family and go about their routines, but they must return to live in the same home as the other contestants. They are constantly filmed, keeping viewers updated on how they live their lives and get on with one another within the house. 

20. Hoarders

This reality show is quite dark in truth. Take an inside look at this nasty compulsion that compels people to hoard… almost everything. Subjects of the show are obsessed and form strong attachments with their belongings. Stacks and piles of things overwhelm their living space often causing them to have serious issues with family members and landlords. The effects of hoarding encroach on their personal and professional lives in unimaginable ways.

This Lifetime network show takes things to the extreme. A couple is paired together by match-makers, and are set to be married without having ever met before! The show documents their eight-week journey as newlyweds after which they need to decide if they will stay hitched or call it quits. 

23. Below Deck

A crew of young staffers take care of luxury yachts and their clientele. The show follows their lives as they work the boat, cater to demanding guests and get involved with a whole lot of their own intrigue. With clients that run the gamut, from high profile more private individuals to rowdy party goers, take a look at how these yachties cope. They too like to live on the wild and extravagant side so things definitely do get interesting.

Do you love cooking disasters? Do you enjoy watching non-cooks fumble their way through a professional kitchen? Then, this is a show for you. Amateurs, who seem to know nothing about cooking, sign up to tackle massive baking challenges. They have to recreate pastry masterpieces and stunning desserts made by professional talents and let's just say… that things never go according to plan.
