At RM150 a pop, the Getha Lux Suite in Aurum Theatre is the most expensive cinema hall in the country - and well worth every single sen for all the luxuries that it comes with

Golden Screen Cinemas recently debuted the Aurum Theatre and in the process, pushed the cinema-going experience to new heights of luxury. The first outlet opened in Johor Bahru in November, specifically at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey where it unveiled the Getha Lux Suite equipped with the highly anticipated Getha luxury recliners. It's like watching movies at home - only with perhaps better amenities.

Less than a month later, Aurum Theatre opened in The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur, in the same location where the GSC Signature used to be. The entirely renovated space now boasts an even more luxurious setting, befitting its name which is taken from the Latin word for gold. The highly Instagrammable boutique cinema comprises 7 halls including 2 Getha Lux Suites, 2 Comfort Cabins, 3 Escape Studios, a private screening room and a chic gastro bar.

If going to the movies is already a treat, then a trip to the Aurum Theatre will really spoil you. Here are 5 things that we love about it:

1. The dramatic entrance

To get in, one has to walk through an aisle flanked on both sides by illuminated faux movie posters, creating a sensation that any die-hard movie fan can relate to - that of being transported into the magical world of cinema.

2. Jin Gastrobar & Premium Retail Store

There's no need to move from one place to another on your next movie date as Aurum Theatre boasts its own restaurant. Elegantly furnished with plush carpeting and custom furniture, A gorgeous island bar anchors the space, and drawing them in with a variety of drinks including classic cocktails

On the menu is a wide range of continental cuisine with vegetarian options. As the price of the ticket - or the Aurum pass - already includes a meal here, it's a good idea to come early. But fret not if there are only minutes to showtime - you can request to have the food deliver to your seat.

Looking for a memorabilia of your favourite movie? Offering a variety of film merchandise, souvenirs, and collectibles, the premium retail store has something for everyone to bring home including the latest toys, fashionable apparel from your favourite film franchises, original movie memorabilia, and special edition concession-only products.

There are three themed halls, each with its own signature aesthetic. One is inspired by Scandinavian Hygge minimalism while another features vibrant pop art. A third hall is inspired by the production design of Wes Anderson movies, in particular The Grand Budapest Hotel.

All three halls are furnished with LA-Z Boy rockers and IMG recliners as well as four-seater sofas, all customised according to the respective design themes, replicating the ambiance of a living room in a private home.
